A new canine care business has opened in Covington.

Angie’s Dog Grooming, LLC, owned and operated by Angie Giegerich, opened Feb. 2 at 1207 W. Jackson Street in Covington. A grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony, sponsored by the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Tourism, was held Wednesday morning.

“We congratulate you and we appreciate the investment that you’re making here in the Alleghany Highlands,” said Teresa Hammond, chamber executive director.

“It’s always a good event when we have a new business coming in,” said Jonathan Arritt, chamber board president. “As the ‘father’ of two four-legged furry animals, it is always good to have good groomers around.”

Congratulatory remarks were also made by Clifton Forge Town Councilman Jeff Irvine and Covington Mayor Tom Sibold, as well as Terri McClung from the Alleghany Highlands Economic Development Corporation.

“I just want to thank everybody for coming today and coming to support us,” said Giegerich. “We’ve had a great first month and a half, and I feel like it will only get better.

“We love to take care of dogs to the best of our ability,” she added.

Angie’s Dog Grooming offers full-service dog grooming in a stress-free environment, which includes haircuts, bathing, ear cleaning, and nail polishing and buffing.

They also offer anal gland expression upon request.

The staff also includes groomer Debbie Cart-wright.
