The USDA Forest Service will temporarily close the portion of Mays Lane (Forest Service Road #3015) which accesses the Petticoat Junction Boat Launch on the Jackson River in Alleghany County.

The boat launch and day-use area will be closed for three days, Wednesday, May 5, through Friday, May 7, while Mays Lane is being repaired.

All foot and motor vehicle access will be closed for that section of Mays Lane during road construction activities. Other sections of Mays Lane which access residential areas will remain open.

Boaters on the Jackson River are reminded of the mandatory take-out requirement near the WestRock Mill area due to instream industrial hazards.

The Indian Draft Access Point, located off State Route 687, is the next lowest Forest Service access point for boaters during this construction closure.

This road repair will improve road conditions for passenger vehicles, ensuring public access the to the river.
