Construction of a large, family-sized pavilion at Booker T. Washington Park began on Tuesday, Feb. 9.

The Friends of Washington Park committee has been raising money for nearly a year in Phase 2 of enhancements to the park.

The pavilion is one of the first enhancements and will be large enough to shelter family reunions, parties, cook-outs and gatherings.

The pavilion should be completed in a week. Restrooms at the park have also been improved.

The next enhancement is a concrete slab. Donations for enhancements to the historic park may be sent to Friends of Washington Park, in care of Clifton Forge Town Hall.
