CLIFTON FORGE — Clifton Forge Town Council will meet tonight at 7 p.m. via Zoom.

There will be first readings and public hearings on:

— The proposed operating and capital budgets that will take effect July 1.

— An ordinance to levy taxes effective July 1.

— An ordinance to establish water service charges, effective July 1.

— An ordinance to establish wastewater service charges, effective July 1.  

Council will hold first reading of a resolution to adopt operating and capital budgets for the 2021-2022 fiscal year.

Action items on the regular business meeting agenda include:

— Granting permission to Clifton Forge Main Street Inc. to hold a downtown market.

— The appointment of Mayor Pam Marshall to the Roanoke Valley-Alleghany regional Commission.

— Holding a called meeting on May 25 to approve the 2021-2022 budget.

— Establishing a paid holiday for town employees on June 19 (Juneteenth).

— Returning to in-person public meetings.

There will be a closed session to discuss a real estate matter.
